Is PulseMyPortfolio free?
Yes. The Standard tier is free, complete and never expires: you enter your portfolio, value it, and review your capital gains and net worth. An optional paid Pro licence unlocks advanced features. There is no subscription, and nothing stops working at the end of a trial period.
Is my financial data sent to a server?
No. Your holdings, transactions, amounts and API keys stay on your device, and every calculation (valuation, capital gains, taxes, projections) happens there. None of that data passes through our servers, and we hold no database of portfolios.
Outbound calls are few and all explainable. Market data comes from four public sources: Yahoo Finance (prices, history, FX), SEC EDGAR (financial statements and portfolio filings), OpenFIGI (converting an ISIN or CUSIP code into a symbol) and FRED (policy rates). They only ever receive security identifiers, never your quantities or amounts. On top of that, and only if you enable them, come the news feeds (public search engines) and the call to the AI provider whose key you supply. Finally, a Pro licence is activated online once. Details are in the privacy policy.
Do I need to create an account?
No. No sign-up, no password, no email address is required to use the application. You download it, open it, and enter your portfolio.
Which devices does PMP run on?
Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Linux and Android. There is no iOS version yet. The Download page lists what is available for each platform.
Does PMP connect directly to my broker?
No, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a missing feature. An automatic connection means handing your broker credentials to an intermediary, which is incompatible with an application that stores nothing remotely. PMP therefore starts from your statements, which you import yourself.
How do I import my transactions?
By importing the statement your broker provides. Nine formats are recognised by name: Saxo, Trade Republic, DEGIRO, Fortuneo, Bourse Direct, Linxea, Interactive Brokers, Swissquote and Trading 212, alongside a bank statement reader and a generic format that covers the remaining cases. The Saxo format is the most thoroughly supported, including awkward events such as spin-offs, share consolidations and rights distributions. If your broker lets you export all your accounts in a single file, PMP recognises the accounts it contains, has you pick a destination for each and imports account by account: a PEA and a securities account are never mixed. Manual entry remains available, holding by holding. The detail is in the guide on importing broker statements.
If you correct an imported transaction by hand, your correction is preserved when you re-import the same file: the application confirms how many corrections were kept at the end of the import.
How do I check that an import went well?
A successful import is not necessarily a correct one. Three checks are enough: the number of transactions loaded against what the file held, the cost basis of a holding whose price you know off the top of your head, and the cash balance, which should look like the one at your broker.
These checks matter mostly the first time, while you validate your broker's format. The full path, from the right file to export to the case where the format is not recognised, is described in the guide Import your transactions into PMP, step by step.
Does PMP handle French taxation?
Yes, for the transactions it tracks. Capital gains on disposals are computed from the weighted average acquisition price, as French law requires (Code général des impôts, art. 150-0 D), rather than by depleting the oldest lot first. Dividends, withholding taxes and social levies are tracked to the cent.
The application produces a summary you can reconcile against your imprimé fiscal unique and identifies the matching boxes on the return. Those amounts are indicative and meant to be cross-checked: your broker's document is what counts. PMP files nothing with the tax authority and replaces neither your return nor, where relevant, your tax adviser.
Tax reporting is only one part of the application. Its main purpose is tracking net worth, liabilities included (multiple accounts, loans and mortgages), day to day monitoring (prices, dividends, cash movements) and long term projection.
Are prices real-time?
No. They are delayed, by up to roughly fifteen minutes depending on the exchange. For a fund priced once a day, the value shown may be the previous day's until the evening calculation. PMP is built for tracking a portfolio over the long term, not for intraday dealing, and must not be relied on as a real-time alerting system.
Why do I need to supply my own AI key?
The analyses rely on a language model, and that service costs money. Rather than folding it into a subscription, PMP lets you use your key: you pay your provider directly, at their rate, with no margin on our side. About ten providers are supported, several of which offer free access to get started.
The analyses are entirely optional. Without a key the application still works: tracking, valuation and taxation do not depend on it.
How do I create an AI API key?
In three steps, with the provider of your choice. Open their console from the "Get a key" link PMP shows in Settings → API & AI, then sign in. Create a key on the page named "API keys" and copy all of it. Finally paste it into PMP and run the connection test, which answers within seconds.
The app repeats these three steps as you configure the provider. The detail, the reasons a test fails and what happens to your key are in the guide Create an AI API key and connect it to PMP.
Does PMP give investment advice?
No, never, and this is not a stylistic caveat. PMP is a descriptive tool: it computes, it compares, it presents what your portfolio contains. It recommends no purchase, no sale, no allocation, and sets no price target.
WM STUDIOS is not a regulated investment adviser and provides no personalised advice. The analyses the application produces, including those assisted by AI, are factual perspectives. Decisions about your wealth are yours, and it may be worth taking them with a duly authorised professional.
How do I back up my data or move to another device?
Two ways. You can export a backup file (.pmpbackup extension), keep it wherever you like and re-import it at will. You can also transfer your portfolio from one device to another by QR code, protected by a passcode generated for the occasion.
The flip side of having no cloud: backing up is on you. Since nothing is stored on our side, we cannot restore a lost portfolio. Export regularly.
What does the Pro licence include, and on how many devices?
The Pro licence is a one-off payment, with no subscription. It runs on two devices at a time, and you can release a slot from within the application as often as you need: what is capped is the number of active devices, not the number of changes. The first activation requires a connection, after which the application works offline. Details are on the PMP Pro page.
